Mirage(noun) - "A hope or wish that has no chance of being achieved."A tale of love unfolds between two individuals from opposite social classes, revealing the struggle to overcome societal boundaries in their quest for happiness and love.Collaborative project with Hanson Ma and Michael Wang. As huge sci-fi nerds, we wanted this short film to serve as an homage to the cyberpunk genre. We also took this opportunity to explore new technologies, such as character rigging and motion capture, to reenact the workflow of a small motion studio.

The final release was premiered in the Ahmanson Auditorium at ArtCenter's Hillside Campus during the Motion&#38;nbsp;Connect event.

Character Development

The characters were developed with background stories, archetypes, and character arcs. The 3D models were made using Daz 3D, while Marvelous Designer was used to dress the characters.

Motion capture was used for all of the character animation. This process was enjoyable and sped up the workflow since characters did not have to be hand-animated.

In every cyberpunk story, there's often a mega-corporation as the antagonist. Thus, CODA was developed as a simple branding project alongside the film.

The brand elements were incorporated into a kit-bashed security drone. From the drone's perspective, the color palette and shape language expand into the HUD interface.

In this cyberpunk universe, one has the ability to share dream experiences. The dream machine brings this to life, creating a unique environment for shared multiplayer dreaming.

	Concept:

The brand visual identity redesign aims to establish a distinct visual identity for Nifty Gateway that communicates its brand and mission effectively, distinguishes itself within the NFT industry, and facilitates access to blockchain technology for emerging artists and collectors. 
This identity is vibrantly displayed through a 3D motion design montage, encapsulating the dynamic essence of the reimagined Nifty Gateway and the burgeoning world of NFTs. It aims to appeal to art collectors and digital artists searching for unique and captivating platforms for releasing and acquiring limited-edition digital art. Key design elements include the transformative and modular logo, a treated RGB color system, the 3D motion design montage, and a combination of Serif and monospace typography, complemented by brand message and logo-based 3D graphics. This versatile design finds application across various platforms, including the website, social media, printed posters, and advertising.

	Story Concept:


In the Tang Dynasty, China. Emperor Xuanzong's concubine, Yang Yuhuan, adored lychees, prompting Xuanzong to organize a daily 2000-km lychee delivery service from southern China. His preoccupation with her desires overshadowed his duties, contributing to the dynasty's fall. This story, symbolizing personal indulgence impacting leadership, is depicted on a scroll viewed right to left or in three frames for narrative clarity.

	Concept:


“To be able to forget means sanity.”

― Jack London


Our objective in designing the title sequence of 'Memento' was to illustrate Lenny's short-term memory struggles. We chose betta fish, echoing the goldfish memory myth set among submerged Polaroids. These Polaroids, with typography like tattoos on the fish, foreshadow Lenny's trauma. The sequence juxtaposes the advanced timelines in the Polaroids against the real-time fish, mirroring the film's dual timelines that converge at the climax.

Our concept: "Build it for Real," parallels the thrill of constructing Gunpla with the fantasy of assembling real robots. 	Book Preface:


Here's the essence of our new governance model: it's built on a non-institutionalized, trust-based system. The internet, a global narrative and meme generator, has birthed an independent network founded on decentralized systems. These networks offer a fresh perspective on governance. This book embarks on an exploration of the relationship between anarchism and decentralized networks, such as the Internet and open-blockchains.

These networks, underpinned by protocols, establish rules without the need for rulers. This marks a significant shift from the conventional frameworks upheld by global institutions like governments. The traditional systems are faltering on multiple fronts, leaving a noticeable void in shaping social and economic narratives. Decentralized networks step in to fill this governance gap, operating in a fundamentally anarchistic manner by facilitating action without centralized authority.

Historically, the absence of rulers implied a lack of rules. Without institutions to provide oversight, guidance, hierarchy, and accountability, regulation seemed unattainable. The prevailing belief was that removing these elements would lead to chaos, not anarchism. However, we are now witnessing the emergence of a system that defies this notion: rules exist without rulers. This isn't chaos; it's a realm of rock-solid, predictable determinism embedded in open, decentralized codes. Such transparency, accountability, and creativity are unachievable with traditional systems. These new rule systems, global, open, neutral, and enduring, are revolutionizing our understanding of governance and order.

	Concept:

This project explores collective behavior in animals, humans, and technology. Using motion design, I'll abstractly represent these realms through visuals of a fish school, human infrastructures, and device networks. The editorial part will investigate these behaviors more deeply, examining personal and societal perspectives, especially post-events like the COVID-19 pandemic, to understand collective dynamics across these diverse domains.
